I've been meaning to add a zipper to my IKEA Blahaj for a while now.
With this "mod" it's possible to refloof them and take out the filling to wash it better.
We start by cutting a hole in their belly. About 20cm along the seam on the Bottom.
I forgot to take a picture sorry!
Then we take all the stuffing out, carefully not to make the hole bigger.
After removing all the stuffing, we will invert the shork!
Now with it inverted we position the zipper and attach it with a rough handsewn guiding seam.
Again some pics might have been helpful here...
Turn it right side out again and look if the zipper looks about right, if you're careful you should try closing it now too. But be weary as opening it in this position might tear out your guide seam.
If it looks about right, turn it inside out again and sew the zipper in. Making sure to go through it's skin, my first seam was too close to the zipper so i missed the shork in a few spots.
Oh, btw. i used my Sewing machine as well as i could and finished the corners manually, where the machine wouldnt reach.
If the Zipper is in, turn them right side out and fill them back up with the filling.
Dont forget to hug and pat!
